A brief report of Huzur's (aba) visit to Brisbane

Arrival in Brisbane

Hazrat Khalifatul Masih al Khamis (aba) graced the soil of Queensland on Friday 21 April at 9.00 pm. Hazur(aba) arrived at Brisbane Airport by Qantas Flight QF 548 - this was the first ever visit of a Khalifatul Masih to Queensland. Aamila members of Jamaat Brisbane, President of Jamaat Bundaberg, Sadr Lajna Imaillah and some other Jamaat children, ladies and men were at the airport an hour before to receive his Holiness. The MTA team from Sydney arrived before Huzur's (aba) flight and joined the local MTA team.

Huzur's (aba) entourage consisted of Huzur (aba) himself, his wife Hazrat Appa Jaan Sahiba, Additional Vakilul Tabshir Abdul Majid Tahir, Private Secretary Muneer Ahmed Javed, National Ameer and Missionary Incharge Australia Mahmood Ahmad, Naib Ameer Australia Khalid Saifullah Khan and Sadr Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Australia Amzad Habib. Also accompanying these people, were members of the security team and members of MTA London.

On arrival, acting President Jamaat Brisbane Dr. Riaz Akber was the first person to greet and shake hands with Huzur (aba) followed by President Bundaberg Jamaat Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Khan, Missionary Queensland Masood Ahmad. Huzur (aba) was escorted downstairs where he stayed for a few minutes and was breifed about the forthcoming program. He spoke to various Jamaat members as well. Huzur (aba) and his entourage were then escorted to their cars in the Qantas valet parking area.

Stay in The Motel and Morning Activities

It took about an hour and fifteen minutes to reach the motel where accommodation was arranged - Bearded Dragon Country Lodges. Huzur (aba) reached the motel at 10:30 pm. This lodge is located at the base of Mt. Tambourine, 70 km south of Brisbane Airport. It is in the proximity of the Queensland Mosque and represents the similar land forms as the mosque land. All the 18 rooms and a cottage in the hotel were booked by Jamaat for Huzur (aba), his entourage and for some local Jamaat members. Huzur (aba) offered Maghrib and Isha prayers in congregation. Dinner was served to all present - it was prepared by members of Lajna Imaillah Brisbane and served by the hotel management under the supervision of Sadr Sahiba. Huzur (aba) and Begum Sahiba had dinner in their room and then everyone retired for the night.

Huzur (aba) led Namaz Fajr at 5:20 am in the hall of the lodge. After Namaz everyone went to their rooms and came out for breakfast at 8:00 am. Huzur (aba) had his breakfast in his room and came out at 9:30 am. He was greeted by Dr. Riaz Akber. Huzur (aba) was briefed about the Beaudesert Shire Council where our land is located. After this a representative from a local Aboriginal community member welcomed Huzur (aba) and briefed him about ancient instruments of Australia - didgeridoo, boomerang and clap sticks. He performed different music tunes from the didgeridoo and Huzur (aba) asked various questions about it. Then he demonstrated boomerang throwing and invited Huzur (aba) to have a go at it. Huzur (aba) accepted the invitation and threw it about 10 times and got better with every throw - it was an excellent sight and a source of inspiration for all present - everyone at the spot enjoyed it a lot. Begum Sahiba also joined in later on. The main land in this area is rural, so Huzur (aba) and Begum Sahiba also saw different animals kept at the premises - these included llamas, alpacas, ostriches etc. Huzur (aba) asked questions about rural activities - such as cattle breeding. Meanwhile, Huzur's (aba) video camera did not sit idle and was capturing many of these activities. Huzur (aba) seemed to like this place and applauded the charming views. He expressed similar views to the local news media. Huzur (aba) and his entourage left for the mosque at 10:15 am.

Arrival at the Mosque

On Saturday 22 April 2006, Huzur (aba) arrived at the mosque premises at 10:30 am. His car stopped in the car park in front of the main door of the Namaz centre where he and Begum Sahiba stepped out of the car. Sadr Sahib Brisbane Abdul Lateef Maqbool greeted Huzur (aba) and a couple of children presented bouquets to Huzur (aba). All the members of Jamaat were standing along the temporarily fenced boundary of the car park and their eyes were feasting with the delightful sight of Khalifatul Masih. All the kids were clad in white suites and black scarves and were singing welcoming songs for his Holiness. Begum Sahiba walked to theladies side while Huzur (aba) walked towards the roundabout with Sadr Sahib.
At the round about Huzur (aba) raised the curtain from the plaque of our Queensland premises - Baitul Masroor, named by Huzur (aba) himself. Following this, Huzur (aba) led a congregational silent prayer.
The base of this plaque is a 1.6 x 1.2 m sand stone that has been cut in the shape of Queensland map - this sand stone has been taken from the Heledon area in Queensland. The name plaque in the middle is a black granite stone from India - thereby establishing a link between the land of the Promised Messiah and the land where Baitul Masroor is located to serve humanity through his message.

Huzur (aba) then passed through the ladies where our Nasirat were singing greeting songs. He then went to the guesthouse for family meetings.

Family Meetings

Family meetings started at 11.00 am and went on till 1:45 pm unabated. President Brisbane Abdul Lateef Maqbool and family were the first ones to meet Huzur (aba), followed by Murrabi Sahib and then relatives of the martyrs of Ahmadiyyat and then families in alphabetical order. Everyone seemed to be happy, joyous and sometimes emotional after coming out of the meeting room while observing the photos with Huzur (aba) in their cameras. Huzur (aba) led Zuhr and Asr prayers at 2.00 pm and then went to the ladies marquee. Huzur (aba) stayed with the ladies for some time and then came out and walked to the lunch marquee where he remained seated for a short while. There was a brief ceremony, which started with the recitation of the Holy Quran - then Huzur (aba) announced a feast from Ata-ur-Rehman who got married a while ago. Huzur (aba) congratulated the groom and then led a silent prayer. Huzur (aba) then went to the guesthouse for lunch with Begum Sahiba while lunch was served for the rest of members in the marquee. Lunch had a number of delicious meat and vegetable dishes cooked by our expert cooks in the Ziafat department led by Qaiser Basheer. Dessert was served afterwards. There were tea stations set up on both ladies and men's sides throughout the day. Guests were also served 'sharbat' of East meeting West - a delicious combination of 'tukh malanga' with vanilla and straw berries. Cakes and chocolates were distributed to children and a Lajna stall for drinks and snacks was also active to meet any additional needs.

Time of Huzur's (aba) departure was coming near. Members gathered at one side of the guesthouse and ladies on the other side. At about 4.15 pm Huzur (aba) came out of the guest house. Members of Brisbane Aamila Jamaat, Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Aamila Brisbane, Aamila Bundaberg Jamaat and Aamila Ansarullah were ready to have a photo with Huzur and His Holiness kindly gave them this opportunity. Then Huzur (aba) went to inspect the missionary accommodation. He came out and passed by the Lajna while walking to his car with the Queensland Nasirat singing songs of departure and there was an environment of sadness as Khalifatul Masih was about to depart the mosque. Huzur (aba) led a silent prayer - that for many among the present brought out the emotional feelings of farewell and love. He got in the car and so Huzur (aba) and his entourage left for the airport at 4:30 pm.

Huzur's (aba) entourage drove through the city to show the views of the city sights on the way. They reached the airport at 5:30 pm and along with Begum Sahiba went to a private lounge. He came out of the private lounge at 6:15 pm and walked a short distance to the departure gate for QANTAS Flight QF 925 for Adelaide. Huzur (aba) was farewelled by the Acting President Brisbane. He also shook hands with some members present and went inside the aircraft with his entourage. Huzur's (aba) flight left at 6:25 pm. Our Jamaat members kept on standing until Huzur's (aba) flight flew away and got out of sight. All the Jamaat members congratulated and embraced each other on holding a successful event by the Grace of Almighty Allah.

Jazakomullah!
