Before you start looking or applying for jobs, it is very important to clearly analyse and understand:

Being totally familiar with the overall picture of you profession and the industry is essential in helping you set and achieve your career goals.
Educating yourself on your professional environment – keeping updated on the latest and potential future trends and developments in your field – makes you a more appealing candidate when you speak with employment agencies and hiring managers because you are able to better discuss what is happening or could happen in your particular profession.
This analysis also creates a context for your search by allowing you to get beyond the confines of your last employment, clarify exactly which job titles are best for you and measure where you stand in relationship to your profession as a whole. Continuing to stay updated on what is happening in your professional environment after your are employed is also just good ongoing career planning.
Defining and understanding your profession or in other words Job Title is even more important when you migrate from one country to the other.
Barriers to Job Search
Majority of people looking for job believe that they are doing everything whatever they can with regards to the job search. Be careful, it might be true or a misconception. Most people in job search are much less productive in search than they are in their normal work.
Research shows that people looking for job spend five hours or less in job search related activities each week. Why are people so unproductive in an activity as important as finding a good new job?
Some obstacles to productivity can be individually addressed, but others are simply part of the environment of search during a period of unemployment. It is important to be aware of these obstacles:
• Lack Of Job Search Expertise
Lack of Job Search Expertise is one of the most common barriers in successful job search. Some people do not know what needs to be done or how to do it. Even those aware of the overall activities needed may not be certain about the steps required to complete them.
Lacking some of the skills required to conduct an effective search, or pursuing the wrong jobs or wrong employers, may result in a low productivity.
Avoiding distasteful search activities or feeling of rejection by engaging in more pleasant busy work or waiting for a company to make the next move can hinder moving proactively toward goals.
• Emotional Stress
These feelings are natural but can become a barrier to an effective search when not properly managed.
• Time Management
Jobs are usually heavily structured (regular work hours and deadlines). In jobs search, individuals must manage their own time.
Repeated rejection is a fact of life in search. Since in the end you accept only one offer and everything before that does not work out, the entire search, by definition, may be seen as nothing but rejection. This can engender the common cycle of rejection, depression and inactivity that often affects search productivity.
• Lack of Communication Skills
Lack of communication skills is the second biggest barrier to a successful job search. For new migrants the problem is even bigger. Some of the steps which cab be taken to improve written and verbal communication skills are as follows:
• Attend Communication Skills courses organised by TAFE and other government & private organisations.
• Spend time with people who do not speak your native language.
• Listen to talk back radio and watch TV news regularly.
• An excellent collection of books on written and verbal communications skills is available in local libraries.
When setting up a business, it is important to keep closely aligned with the Islamic concept of trade and business. In this regard our current Khalifa, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V (May Allah be his helping hand) laid down some important guidelines when seeking to establish a business. He made particular reference to keep away from “interest” as per the Quranic teaching. In his Friday Sermon of 8 June 2007, Huzhur said,
“Whereas, participating in interest incurs the wrath of Allah, and one meets his ruin in this world and in the Hereafter. Interest contributes to the destruction of peace in the society. The poor man’s condition keeps worsening, whereas the rich amass more wealth. Interest causes money to accumulate within a group of wealthy people and creates an abyss of debt for the poor, from which there is no escape.” (www.alislam.org)
In his Friday Sermon of 15 June 2007, Huzhur went to explain that:
“Islam allows the eating of the flesh of swine in extreme cases (2:174); however usury/interest is not permissible under any circumstances as the Quran states in Surah Al Baqarah (2:279).” (www.alislam.org)
“Huzhur said he thinks that if the outgoing mortgage [interested loan provided in the developed countries] is about the same as rent would be, it does not matter. However, it should be remembered that this principle applies to mortgage on a house which is one’s residence, one is not allowed to use this for business purposes.” (www.alislam.org)
“In Islam the preferred way for those who have disposable income, is rather than accumulate the money, to invest it in a business with skilled people to promote prosperity for all.” (www.alislam.org)
